I have over twenty years experience working in schools. Most of this work has been in Junior or Primary schools, but I have delivered many sessions in Nursery, Infants & Secondary schools too. I’ve also delivered art sessions in Family Centres, Universities, Youth Clubs, Museums, National Trust properties… The list is endless!!! Sometimes the school/venue has a specific theme or project in mind, other times they are happy for me to suggest ideas to them. I do have a very extensive catalogue of art workshops, all of which are tailored to specific age groups. Activities that have proved popular include:
- Watercolour painting
- Mixed media collage
- Diwali (clay diyas, rangoli, lanterns)
- Chinese New Year (lanterns, dragon puppets, banners)
- Wire & clay sculpture
- Pastel workshop
- Abstract art
- Aboriginal art
- Pop art
- After-school clubs
If you are interested in arranging an arts activity for your school/venue just drop me an email or give me a call (via my contacts page), I’d be more than happy to discuss things further. My rates of pay are very competitive, I’m fully CRB approved and can provide references from previous projects if required. More images & information about my teaching work can be found over on my Facebook page.
“Thank-you so much Steve! Year 2 had a fun-packed, exciting workshop day, making a variety of collages with you. Your enthusiasm is infectious and your inspiring activities enabled the children to become confident collage artists! Your visit has been an outstanding foundation for our Arts Award topic and we look forward to working with you again, next year.” – Fiona Blake, Art and Design teacher, Overseal Primary School.
“Stephen came to St. Peter’s as ‘Artblock’ and over the years has worked on many projects to improve Art in school. His long term and most recent commitment has been to run an art club after school. This is a really popular club with all pupils that is always oversubscribed Stephen’s art skills are excellent, as is his manner with our pupils.Stephen has a professional and friendly manner with all stakeholders and is always able to adapt his skills to meet the needs of different people. This was demonstrated when he ran an art training day for all of our staff and brought out the artists in all of us!” – Alison Woodhouse, Head teacher, St. Peter’s C of E Primary School.
